Track By Tracks: GREENGOAT - Aloft (2025)

Aloft is inspired by the works of Dr. Jhon Mack on abductions, seen from the experiencer's point of view. Each one of its seven songs talks about a distinct mental state represented by a blend of stoner doom, prog, flamenco, and classical.

1. INTRO – ZOHAR (Awe):

We called this first track Zohar, it is an ancient word that means “radiance” or “brilliant light.” The tune is a cinematic instrumental journey: guitar over a bed with a constant oscilloscope tone running underneath as only rhythm. There’s something about it that felt like stepping into a dream, that we visualized as if looking at the stars from a desert.

2. BETTY - (Anxiety):

Betty is inspired by the rhythm of the bulería, but taken into the darkness of doom. In Spain, the bulería is usually a happy rhythm, but for us it feels tense with that wild, killer meter. When we mixed it with doom, it brought out that strange, oppressive feeling that captures anxiety for us, like a battle.

The lyrics explore the experience of a woman’s abduction, where her children are taken from her while she is trapped in a weird trance, powerless to resist or defend herself. A reflection of a deep fear in the minds of women, the constant helplessness, and the struggle to survive in an incredibly hostile world.

3. JIM - (Hypnosis):

Jim is inspired by the rhythm of tangos and represents the mental state of hypnosis. Built with a cyclic psychedelic flow, mixed with heavy distorted guitars and the Laboga cranking up, in a spiral.

The lyrics talk about a mental journey where you feel the connection to that "other side," where an entity shows you the vastness of the universe, guiding you to the alchemy of surrender.

4. TRAVIS - (Fear):

Travis captures the sensation of fear, pulsing with a rhythmic intensity like the ticking of a clock counting down, and the rhythm is inspired by the processions of Semana Santa in Spain (which, by the way, are very “doom” for us lol), mixed with instrumental layers builded by classical music and some twisting progressions.

The lyrics talk about the fear of no one believing you when you ask for help because you've gone through a horrible experience, one that feels absolutely real to you, even though you start to doubt it yourself, as you're on that thin line between perception and imagination.

5. ARIEL (Hallucination/ addiction):

Ariel is inspired by the rhythm of tientos and the mental state of hallucination. It’s about capturing the sensation of losing oneself in the experience, intense, surreal, and impossible to control. A thing that is so nice that can elevate you, and at the same time, it can hurt you, but you keep coming back again and again. Not only drugs, everything that feels so beautiful it hurts.

6. BARNEY (Despair):

Barney is inspired by the rhythm of rumba with a twist and represents the mental state of despair.

The lyrics talk about the search for a God that does not exist. That one on TV, in the news, that one that is just an ideal that you seek for comfort, but you cannot reach because it’s a lie. A sonic assault where hope feels distant and unreachable, yet the struggle to keep moving never stops.

7. CHARLES - (Wrath):

Charles is inspired in the rhythm of verdiales and represents the mental state of wrath. The lyrics are about wrath, how it drags you and possesses you even when you don't want it. It talks about how sometimes anger is swallowed and becomes very hard to control, even though you know it may hurt others.
