Behind The Scenes: Ophiolatry - Death Tour (Official Video)
Is a Journey Between Myth and Metal
The filming of the Death Tour video took place on the mysterious and enchanting Ilha do Mel in Brazil, a natural setting that felt like it came straight out of a legend. Over four intense days, we dove into a demanding shoot, capturing every frame with cinematic cameras and drones that allowed us to translate the full force and symbolism of the concept into imagery. The production was led by Black Flame Pictures, which immediately connected with the spirit of the project and elevated it visually.
The narrative of the video is inspired by Greek mythology. It tells the story of a warrior who falls in battle and is honored in an ancestral funeral ritual. Witches dance around his body, invoking the name of Charon, the ferryman of the underworld. Meanwhile, his tribe watches in silence, ensuring the ritual is properly carried out. The warrior’s soul is guided across the
Styx by a giant serpent, symbol of transformation and rebirth.
Upon reaching the other side, the warrior finds himself lost, not knowing where he is. But when he sees his tribe waiting for him with open arms, his spirit regains its strength. Together, they cross the gates of Hades, completing the passage into a new existence.
But what you don’t see on screen is everything we had to face to bring this vision to life. From day one, challenges arose. Our guitarist had to be rushed to the hospital, fortunately, it wasn’t serious. Shortly after, the vehicle transporting the crew broke down, leaving us stranded at a repair shop for an entire day. And that was just the beginning.
There were days when we had to wake before dawn to catch the perfect light or film during low tide. We carried heavy equipment through the jungle, endured changing weather conditions, and pushed through moments of uncertainty. Every difficulty, however, added a raw, authentic energy that ultimately infused the final result.
The visual effects were developed by the Canadian company RSC, which beautifully and precisely recreated the supernatural elements that bring the story to life. Their work shaped the dreamlike, the symbolic, and the ancestral.
Death Tour was more than just a music video. It was an audiovisual ceremony, a ritual blending music, history, and spirit. A tribute to warriors, to death as a passage, and to the eternal power of transformation.
