Interviews: Victor Sierra
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Rock band Victor Sierra from France. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out like that?
Hello, Breathing the Core readers. It's nice to meet you all. Victor Sierra comes from the cryptic
aviators' code alphabet. Some believe it's not quite true, but they won't tell because they enjoy
being the happy few. Among them, different solutions to this enigma coexist. Are they right to
go this way? I don't know.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We haven't chosen anything. Gothic and Industrial rock have always been our universe. With a
lot of different flavors, of course. When we met the Steampunk world, it was like shoes waiting on
the road and perfectly fitting our feet. I guess it shows in our music. But above all, we know no
boundaries when it comes to writing music.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
It started with Anouk (The Legendary Princess) and me (Commander Bob) coming from very
different backgrounds. We met between two centuries and decided to mix them and form Victor
Sierra. We have had other members along the road, but we finally decided to go on the two of
us. Actually, not quite true, because we have a jolly phantom on stage, in charge of the
computer stand. You can call him Piløt X-Ray.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Too many to make a choice! I'll ask Piløt X-Ray, he certainly has some lies to provide.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It suddenly comes like an urge, and I have to rush to my guitar or my computer. I’ve got dozens
of notes and word,s and ideas swirling in my mind. I can hear them playing, and it doesn’t stop. It
can even be painful sometimes if I’m driving or such. Some might think I’m a loonie of some kind
when they hear me humming melodies I record on my cell phone.
6. Where was your last gig?
Steamrose in Germany. East Germany, 2 km from the Polish border. The river Oder-Neisse is for
those who know a bit of history. A fantastic moment with a great audience.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Victor Sierra is ready to play everywhere on the Planet. We've recently signed with Deadfall
Management, and they are in the same mood, so feel free to contact them!
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Any band with a good spirit. Never forget the wheel keeps turning. Treat your fellow bands
kindly.
9. Who not?
I won't give names, but a few bands we shared a stage with who behaved very badly. Some
ludicrous divas.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
The Princess is freaking out before getting on the stage. As soon as she sets foot on it, it all
disappears.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
See my answer to a previous question! Sincerely, too many bands, too many musical trends. Too
many atmospheres. It's like Quantum physics, the observation kills the phenomenon.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I must admit I'm still waiting for something really weird. I hope this moment will come. It will be
fun.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are our compass. That doesn't mean we follow the north they indicate. But their
unconscious opinion and conscious moves count while we perform live.
14. What do you think of our site?
It's pretty exhaustive. I like the stage picture you use as a background. It makes you feel the energy
you put into it.
15. Something to add?
We’re about to release a new single on April 25th. Stay tuned! And we have a lot of songs in the
making. I don’t know when it will be released on an album because nowadays people seem to
enjoy singles and Eps more. But of course, there will be one in the future. It’ll be Victor Sierra's
sixth.
