Interviews About Albums: Hilltops Are For Dreamers - A Soulless Drive (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek/UK Metal band Hilltops Are For Dreamers to ask questions about their album, "A Soulless Drive".

1. What can you say about the new EP "A Soulless Drive"?

The new EP is a continuation of our previous release. It's quite esoteric, trying to explore human nature from the darkest to the brightest moments. It has 3 songs which all have lyric videos. It's the most rock-driven and easy to record, with a focus on rock and gothic metal music.

2. What is the meaning of the title?

The title is a reflection of what we live with today. Everything is so fast, social media doom scroll, ads, influencers, etc, they feel so soulless. We believe that we have listed something in the wrong way, taken from our daily job routines and fast-paced life. That's soulless drive here.

3. Which one is the composer of the "A Soulless Drive" ?

It's Vasileios Papageorgakopoulos, the main man of the band. Sam, the singer, helped refine the lyrics, and Fernando, the drummer, engineered and recorded the drums and composed part of them.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I would pick 'The First Day of Winter'. I feel that's a really solid hard rock song with a great chorus that stays with you for a long time.

5. Is there a special message in this EP? If there is, what is it?

I believe that the message is 'Freedom'. Something that we should all seek. Mental and actual freedom from the daily ties that ruin our lives and waste our time. Freedom via mental and psychological exploration of the darkness of the mind.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Favourite lines:

Seasons change, a soulless drive
(with) heavy waters from the sky
Like rivers floating, I am still dry
I stay awake, I need to lie...

It depicts the fact that we are in a lethargy that even heavy waters can't wake us up.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this release? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Family ties and music for sure. As well as nature, the weather, and inner thoughts. I love gothic sounds and Scandinavia, so that played a role for sure.

8. Something to add?

Support and purchase the physical product on Bandcamp! Hope u enjoy the EP.
