Interviews: Toy Called God

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Hard Rock band Toy Called God from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

The band name came from Letters From Dostoevsky. It reflects society’s tendency to use organized religion to control others and the opposition to that.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

We just write what we write and what we feel. Our styles come from what we listened to and learned growing up.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

No, we did not know each other prior.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Dustin: Nine Inch Nails

David: Stone Temple Pilots

John: Coheed and Cambria

Patrick: The Beatles

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The moments we have lived and /or life experiences are what inspire our songs. 

6. Where was your last gig?

Concord, California (Vinnies) May 10th, 2025

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

Everywhere!

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Dr Dre

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Ted Nugent

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

There are always nerves before a performance. Take a deep breath, exhale.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

There are truly too many to name, most of them are ppl who are not famous and are out there grinding in clubs right now.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing crazy there, a guitar pick.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love everyone who follows the band, but to us, they are friends, not fans.
