Behind The Tracks: Caustic Waves - Playing With Fire (Single) (2025)

PLAYING WITH FIRE is the new single from CAUSTIC WAVES - melodic alt-rock/metal/post-hardcore, with a pinch of late-90s nostalgia. CAUSTIC WAVES is the musical outlet for Glasgow-based one-man band, Neil Thomas.

 

Both the lead single QUICKSAND, and the new single PLAYING WITH FIRE are taken from the upcoming new album, ECHOES.

 

This energetic alt-rock banger opens with a funky bass-driven verse before bursting into an anthemic chorus, with a huge melodic vocal hook. Heavy but catchy, the track is a modern twist on late-90s Incubus, both in the Brandon Boyd vocal delivery and the funky, metallic-tinged guitars.

 

The lyrics plead with the listener to be cautious and take heed of the warning signs when stumbling into an emotionally dangerous situation.

 

The track was produced and mixed by Neil at his home studio in Glasgow, Scotland. After mixing, it was given an extra layer of mastering by acclaimed producer Lewis Johns (Earthtone9, Employed To Serve, Blanket, Oversize)
