Interviews: Archaic Disease

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death/Death Metal/Deathcore project Archaic Disease from Canada. Check out the interview and enjoy it!.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

It came from the Gojira song "Esoteric Surgery". " We were working door-to-door for Unicef Canada. Raising money to help children during the Syrian Civil War. There had been a resurgence of Polio out of nowhere. As we recorded our demos after work, I pointed out that Polio is an "Archaic Disease". In that moment, we had our name. 2 ideas, formed into 1.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

We wanted to make music that could bridge the gap between death metal and deathcore. In 2013, there was still a huge divide and animosity between the 2 cultures. We grew up loving both.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

The original founding members are my younger brother Noah, who was the original vocalist. When we started Archaic Disease, I had just finished Audio Engineering school, and he had just graduated from high school.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Deathstars.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Introspection, catharsis, and trying to connect to others. Hurting and Healing. The world. The cosmos. Spirituality. Archaic Disease vanished from 2014-2024. During that decade, I wrote a song a year as some form of self-help. The songs were never intended to be released. They were just made as my own therapy. "Sacrificial Warfare", the upcoming album, will be these 10 songs.

6. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

Peter Tagtgren (Hypocrisy)

7. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

Motley Crue

8. Which bands have influenced you the most?

Children of Bodom, The Black Dahlia Murder, Carnifex, Gojira, Whitechapel

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Last year, someone asked for some of my hair. But I'm bald, so...

10. What do you think of your fans?

The "Vir/Us", means everything to us. Since Archaic Disease doesn't play shows, we use our social media as a way to directly connect to the individuals who listen to our music. We are always here to try to help heal any hurt.

11. What do you think of our site?

Amazing what you guys do for the culture of Heavy Metal. Metal is reaching new heights, and it's only getting bigger.

12. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Welcome to the New World Plague🤘🤮
