Interviews About Albums: Pretty Pity - Done Waiting (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American pop-rock band Pretty Pity to ask questions about their album, "Done Waiting".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
It’s our favorite project we’ve put out to date. It’s the most honest we’ve ever been in our music, and the storytelling feels so immersive in a way we’re all very proud of.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Done Waiting is titled as such because we are done waiting around for people higher on the
food chain in the music industry to take us seriously and are taking matters into our own hands.
Following a massive rebrand, we independently released our debut EP as Pretty Pity and
announced a 2-month run without the help of any label execs, proving to ourselves that we can
and will find success on our own.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
We are all co-writers on all of these songs. We all listen to a wide variety of music, so bringing in
this array of influences allows us to really hone our sound into something unique to us.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Hate on me. The title of this EP came from this very song. HOM fully captures what we are all
about in this stage of our career. The song asks the question “When is it going to be my turn?”
And states that we’re done waiting for that question to be answered by someone else.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
The message tied into every song on this project is to choose yourself, because you’re worth it.
In business, in your love life, and in how you view yourself. Learning to trust your instincts and
take matters into your own hands is a powerful tool.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
“I know everybody’s fake until they hate on me” -Hate on me is about being rejected by the
industry, how that can mirror personal relationships, and what happens when this consistent
rejection leads to negative internalizations that cause you to push people away and expect the
worst in everyone.
“No you can’t take this shit away from me” -Vertigo talks about fighting the feeling of not being
good enough when you’ve worked so hard to get where you’re at.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, or someone you'd love to thank especially?
Friends, family, and everyone who ever broke my heart. All of the previously mentioned have
given me unforgettable life experiences that allow me to tell these stories and connect with those
who have shared similar experiences.
8. Something to add?
Stream the Done Waiting EP and see us on tour! Listen and see what makes a Pretty Pity song,
And a Pretty Pity show, just that.
