Behind The Tracks: Decimator - Halloween Sematary (Single) (2025)

Halloween Sematary was written as a joking kind of cover song for a gig 2 years ago. We wanted to have something on "theme" as it was promoted as a Halloween show.

 

It's become popular with the audience, so we kept it going.

 

From the beginning I added the theme from the movie at the start and finish - as Pet Sematary by The Ramones isn't particularly about Halloween, though the horror concept is very much there!

 

When we decided to record and release it, we went back to our artist, Jarrod Elvin, whom we had collaborated on nearly every other video and for artwork - as with minimal guidance, he seems to grasp our concepts.

 

I (Lance) asked him for something inspired by the lyrics, but he always researches deeper, and threw some classic horror tropes in there too - and the video for The Ramones version, from the 1980's also gave some sort of narrative guidance.
