Interviews About Albums: Beta Voids - Scrape it Off (2025)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American Punk Rock/Hardcore Punk band, Beta Voids, to ask questions about their album "Scrape It Off".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Carrie Here- vocals
It’s special. We’re special. Really, it came together pretty quickly and organically, with contributions from each band member. We are quite proud of it!
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Scrape it Off is a lyric from my personal favorite song off the EP: Brain Malfunction
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Dan is the chief compositor, alongside a few friends/former bandmates of his. The music and a large portion of the lyrics were composed circa 1982 - 2025! Hence the dated -errr vintage vibe.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Already staked this claim!
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is, what is it?
Yes. But you will need a decoder ring. To acquire the decoder ring, send 19 pennies taped to an Eiffel Tower postcard to PO Box 1067, Astoria, OR 97103.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Yes, all of them! Bandcamp is a good place to find our lyrics.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
ZBeta Voids is somewhat of a Trojan horse project for our crazy kookooo modern cowpunk prog rock group, the Something Ain’t Rights, featuring Dan on guitar, Mike on guitar and lead vocals, Alpha on bass, and Carrie on drums. Mandy and our new drummer, Mickey, are PRETTY heavily affiliated with the Dumpies, WHOM WE ADORE. Mike and I (Carrie) both moved to the Pacific Northwest from Austin, TX, where we were pretty involved in the scene. Mike owned Sweatbox Studios in ATX, and over the period from 1993-2013, recorded and engineered close to 2,000 punk and punk adjacent records, including many seminal bands from all over the world. Tim Kerr of Big Boys fame and Mike Mariconda of the Raunch Hands were the studio’s main producers.
8. Something to add?
F*CK ICE
