Behind The Artworks: SLEEPING GIANT - The Beauty Of Obliteration (2026)

The artwork was crafted by local painter and artist Ari Arnaldsson (AriArt). In it you see a creature rising up from the Atlantic Ocean, having forcefully crafted Iceland into a bong and proceeding to blaze it into complete obliteration.

 

The creature in question is a „Bergrisi“ (mountain-giant). In Icelandic folklore, Iceland‘s protected by four entities known as „Landvættir“ (protectors of the land), one of which is this giant. It‘s a bit of a play on words regarding the band name and our geography, and also meant to symbolize some of the lyrical themes regarding the world as we know it go down in glorious flames – The Beauty of Obliteration.
