Band Biographies: Mindvile

Mindvile, is a black/death metal band. (Spain/USA).

We have just completed our debut album entitled “Old Continent”, part of a conceptual series called “Stories No Tongue Should Tell”, which will tell stories from different regions of the world, focused on real monsters still alive: murderers, twisted minds, and figures whose very existence embodies human vileness.

The first volume, “Old Continent”, focuses on Europe.

The album was recorded at Moontower Studio, featuring the following lineup:

• Drums: Belzedrum (A Dark Reborn, Kreyl)

• Bass: Gralborj (ex-Niu de Corbs)

• Guitar and vocals: Vate

It contains eight tracks and comes with a complete visual booklet, with cover artwork illustrated by Juanjo Castellano (The Black Dahlia Murder, Avulsed...).

Our music combines an aggressive yet atmospheric sound with lyrics inspired by real events, exploring darkness from a human and psychological perspective.

1. The origin of Mindvile

Mindvile was born out of a need to expose the world’s most treacherous and vile minds and to tell the most terrifying stories to have emerged from our world.

The name emerges from the union of two words, Mind and Vile, representing the internal corruption of thought; a consciousness that rots until it deforms the human being and reveals their depravity. It also plays with the similarity between Vile and Ville (town, city), suggesting that Mindvile is not only a band, but a cursed city, a symbolic refuge where the corrupted souls and diseased minds portrayed in the songs reside.

Each song delves into the depths of human psychopathy to reveal the monster that inhabits certain minds and the vileness our species can embody. The lyrics are descents into the personal hells of those who crossed the boundary between the human and the monstrous. The music and visual aesthetic form a distorted mirror reflecting what society fears to acknowledge: That horror does not come from hell, but from the human mind.

All of this is conveyed through a sound that blends the rawness of death metal with the ritualistic and spiritual atmosphere of black metal, building a distinct language to portray the criminal mind.

2. The saga: Stories No Tongue Should Tell

The title of the saga, “Stories No Tongue Should Tell” defines the heart of Mindvile: a series of five conceptual albums, each centred on a continent and dedicated to exploring its own version of human horror.

Each album focuses on the vileness of real killers who are still alive most of them locked away behind bars and removed from society, but some still walk freely among us despite the atrocities they have committed.

Each album is represented by a colour associated with its continent, a symbolic essence. Every cover will depict a terrifying place from that continent, serving as a representation of its unique form of vileness.

Europe “Old Continent”: (green): Putrefaction, poison, the corruption of the old.

America (red): Modern violence, blood, and progress.

Asia (yellow/gold): Fanaticism, corrupted spirituality.

Africa (black): Primordial, ritualistic, ancestral.

Oceania (blue): Isolation, madness, abyssal silence.

3. Volume I: Old Continent

The first chapter of the saga, “Old Continent,” is centred on Europe.

The album features eight songs: each portraying a real figure, a killer or despicable being still alive, embodying the darkest fragments of the European psyche.

The cover of “Old Continent” depicts the Hill of Crosses of Šiauliai (Lithuania). Eight figures appear climbing a staircase, each one representing a character from the songs, competing to be recognized as the most depraved criminal of their era. The entire image is enveloped in a deep green tone that evokes decay and twisted faith.

4. Identity and message

Mindvile does not sing about death; it sings from within death. Every sound, word, and image serves a single purpose: to reveal the unbearable truth that evil is not external; it lives within us.

The project Stories No Tongue Should Tell is a work, a warning, and a confession: because the stories that should not be told... are precisely the ones that must not be forgotten.
