Interviews About Albums: FALSIMONIAN - For Survival (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Melodic Death Metal band FALSIMONIAN to ask questions about their album, "For Survival".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
For Survival features Jesus Fuentes Valverde as the keyboardist, guitarist, and lead composer, and Erick Valverde as the lyricist and lead vocalist. After a successful start to our writing collaboration in Summer 2024, we decided to found Falsimonian, and we started identifying old collaborators and friends to complete the creative team. We recruited Cesar Robles as Lead Guitarist and Moritz Gonzalez as drummer. The production of this album was entirely managed at a distance, working in four different states at the same time (South Carolina and Texas in the US - Chihuahua and Guanajuato in Mexico).
While this is Erick’s debut as lyricist and vocalist, Jesus, Cesar, and Moritz are veteran musicians, and they have been part of and collaborated with some of the biggest names in the Mexican metal scene, including Fractvls, Orcus O Dis, Enochian Message, Here Comes the Kraken, amongst others of note. Their unique backgrounds and experiences contribute to the mature sound and unique style featured in For Survival.
All five songs feature heavy guitar riffs, headbanging grooves, melodic hooks, brutal vocals, virtuosic passages, and interesting harmony. We are excited to share our songwriting and our performances featured throughout our debut EP For Survival.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
For Survival is a reference to our narrative for the EP. It speaks about the struggles of trying to live a mundane life through dark times. While not fully a conceptual album, For Survival talks about some of the different stages in the daily pursuit of survival. We can look at this album through the lens of a fictitious dystopian world full of hate, war, and manipulation, where the threat of a world-ending catastrophic event is imminent and soon to become a reality.
3. Who is the composer of the CD/EP?
Jesus Fuentes Valverde is in charge of the musical composition, and Erick Valverde is in charge of the lyrics for the EP.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
We have slightly different answers! For Jesus: I think Freefall is a great example of what we were looking to do. The song showcases groovy riffs, aggressive vocals, a strong chorus, Latin American rhythms, and some instrumental shredding. Erick: I believe Freefall is the song that captures what we started hoping for the band to sound like and also to express through the raw emotion of it. But I also think the title track, For Survival, captures where we may be going in the future, exploring different emotions, while expanding the mix of Latin American rhythms with death metal, and bringing in different elements.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?
Falsimonian aims to connect with listeners looking for raw and expressive music. Our music will resonate with those facing the struggles of an average person in the current state of our world. We fuse elements of melodic death metal, progressive metal, Latin American music, and even jazz to create a sound unique to our life experiences as bi-cultural individuals hailing from the harsh desert in the US-Mexico border. Our lyrics paint the story of a fictional dystopian world where injustice and hate prevail, as a parallel to many of the issues we all face today in our society.
The wide variety of traditional and modern artists that inspire our sound allows us to appeal to a broad audience. Falsimonian seeks to engage metal listeners who enjoy a balance of heavy guitar riffs, headbanging grooves, melodic hooks, brutal vocals, virtuosic passages, and interesting harmony. Through our songwriting, we intentionally incorporate these elements to present a genuine and fresh musical product that honors all the reasons that we fell in love with metal to begin with.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
Can’t change your past, but change the future
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Way too many artists have inspired us throughout the years, and all of the life experiences that have brought us to this moment.
We would like to thank every single collaborator, as they have been essential in the creation of this album, as well as our family and friends for supporting us.
8. Something to add?
We are super excited to share For Survival with everyone! It’s a super diverse EP, and we know that there is at least a song that will resonate with most listeners. We invite you to listen to our music and connect with us! You can find us on the streaming platforms of your choice and our socials as Falsimonian.
