Behind The Tracks: Coilguns - Everything We Love, We Destroy (Single) (2026)

It's been more than a decade now since our countries agreed to a deal they're not respecting. We wrote this paradoxical yet simple song to mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Climate Accords. Why are we not able to act accordingly on our promises? Why are we always destroying what we love? How can 2026 be the actual future of 2016?

We imagined this song in two parts: the first one bouncing from sadness to anger like a pendulum, as if repeating things would prevent us from remaining idle. The second unfolds like a crepuscular coda for the wretched world that awaits us —a wide wasteland fed with new hopes and calling for remission.

We recorded the drums using two completely different rooms and kits: one with a very tight, in-your-face sound, the other in a large empty warehouse for a much wider, more diffuse atmosphere. That contrast follows the emotional arc of the song, with the drum sound itself shifting halfway through. It all starts with a single drum fill that gradually becomes the backbone of the entire arrangement. It never really steps into the spotlight, but if you pay attention, you can hear it evolve and quietly tie the whole song together.
